Parent Community Group
The L. Y. Cairns Parent Community is a group of dedicated parents and school staff, who meet five times per year.
School Council provides an opportunity for parents to discuss educational topics or areas of concern with the Principal, provide feedback, and be involved in decision making processes. All parents of L. Y. Cairns School are considered to be members of the School Council and are welcome to attend any of the meetings.
L.Y. Cairns Parents Association is the group that fundraises and organizes the Casino every two years. Funds raised are used to off‐set education‐related experiences and equipment that would normally be covered by the school budget or requested of families. The Association has provided the school with funds to build the outdoor fitness circuit, to host special events, to continue the lunch program and other areas of need.
